Overview

Glory

In the opposite direction of the sun (see also Rainbows) on a white cloud wall the observer often recognises a colourful appearance, which is called "Glory". It is caused by back-scattering at small, liquid droplets followed by diffraction. This phenomenon can be mathematically described only by Mie Theory.
